Fic: Lives Are For Living. (1/?)
Title Lives Are For Living. (1/?)
Fandoms Torchwood/Being Human crossover fic.
Characters/pairings Andy Davidson/Tom McNair. Other TW and BH characters will appear later on.
Word count: This part 1250. Total will be over 20k.
Rating This part all ages. Later parts adult.
Contains Mentions of depression/anxiety. Mentions of past canon character death. In later parts violence, graphic sex, Andy's homophobic mother.
A/N: Crossover with Being Human. Technically a CoE fix it as it's set in the same 'verse as Finding Ways To Smile Again (although that isn't apparent in much later in the story). Follows on from Break and Breakaway from Tom McNair's POV.

Summary
After being pushed out of the police force following the events of Children of Earth, Andy Davidson tries to build a new life for himself deep in the Welsh countryside.
Tom McNair walked out off his old life after realising it wasn't what he needed.
A chance meeting would take their lives in directions that they had never expected and bring them love that they'd not thought they'd find.

The countryside rolled away on either side of the landrover as Andy drove along the winding road that led up from Rhayader to the Elan Valley. )

Fic: Mainframe, Hex and the Temporal Trouser Error.
Title: HEX, Mainframe and the Temporal Trouser Error.
Character(s)/pairings: Mainframe (Torchwood's computer) and HEX (Discworld), Connor Temple (Primeval)
Fandom and/or Prompt: Discworld, Torchwood and Primeval.
Rating: G
Word Count: 1872
Spoilers/Warnings: No warnings. Vague spoilers for Torchwood:
Children of Earth, and even vaguer ones for Doctor Who (new series 3). Primeval to early series 3. No spoilers for anything Discworld apart from the existence of HEX.
A/NThis should have been for [livejournal.com profile] consci_fan_mo, but I didn't get it finished in time. This fic is by far the oddest thing I've written. The prompt it was for was +++ Divide By Cucumber Error. Please Reinstall Universe And Reboot +++ so sensible was probably never going to happen.

Deep under Cardiff in the crumbling remains of the Torchwood Hub, one of the screens flickered on. Text in a font not available anywhere on Earth appeared jerkily letter by letter. )

Fic: The Dances and Lives We Lead. (Written for Torchwood-Fest)
Written for [livejournal.com profile] torchwood_fest where the reveals are now up.

Title: The Dances and Lives We Lead.
Author: [livejournal.com profile] the_silver_sun
Word Count: 4200
Giftee: Community.
Pairing: Jack/Nancy, Jack/Jack (sort of)
Characters:The real Captain Jack Harkness, Nancy Floyd, Bilis Manger.
Rating: PG
Summary: When the light faded and Jack was left alone on the dance floor at the Ritz Ballroom he found he had more questions to ask himself than those around him did. To them he could lie, to himself that was much harder.
Warnings:Mention of period homophobic attitudes.
Contains:Cheating on partner if you consider the Jack/Jack dance and kiss in the episode Jack cheating on Nancy.  Possible/implied character death.
Setting/Time: Series One
Beta: Harkpad02
Disclaimer: Torchwood belongs to the BBC and not to me, I'm just writing this for fun.
A/N:Thank you to Harkpad02 for betaing this for me. I've used the Torchwood canon from the BBC series one website of Jack's plane disappearing after engaging enemy aircraft when coming back from a training exercise, rather than the Doctor Who canon of him failing to report for duty one morning.  I'm also assuming that Jack is meant to be the same age as Matt Rippy, about mid thirties. The Air Transport Auxiliary and RAF Pengam Moors really did exist, although Jack's squadron, the 133rd, was never based there.

The light that had been so brilliantly bright around them as to make them seen like they were the only two people left in the world faded, leaving Captain Jack Harkness alone in the middle of the dance floor. )

New Burn Gorman film.
Burn Gorman (aka Torchwood's Owen Harper) is in the lead role of a new film.

Up There
From BBC webpage.
It can be tough adjusting to your own death. That is the premise of a new British film called Up There, which sees the dead living among us, tied up in bureaucracy as they wait to be transferred 'up there'.

Torchwood's Burn Gorman plays the long-dead Martin - tasked with guiding the recently-deceased to their local 'Moving On' centre, complete with regular progress checks and seemingly endless group counselling sessions.

But when Martin's new partner frightens his very first client into running away, the pair are forced to travel cross-country to track him down.

The film, set in anonymous Glasgow alleyways and a sleepy Scottish coastal town, makes the afterlife seem as mundane as what comes before. And that's what attracted Gorman to the project.

"[Martin] doesn't deal with his issues in the film, or his emotional incontinence... he's just getting on with death, just like he did in life, like most of us.
