That was a beautiful little story! Great whumping, but also great pairing with Rhys and Jack. You don't read that too often. I really love Rhys.

And I loved especially the "and that he must know how his own not dying thing works". It's true, even a lot of authors for the TV episodes make that mistake and have Jack just not die (like when he was in the radiation room with the Doctor), but it isn't right. He IS dying - he just keeps coming back.

I wonder how long he took and how many different ways to die he tried out till he was convinced.
