Thank you :) Hal I think lies to everybody, himself included, so there's a very good chance that he actually believed what he was saying to be true at the time he said it. Not that that makes it any better.

Hal does care about Tom, the fact that he would kill anybody who'd hurt him, is proof, albeit of a rather scary obsessive kind, that he feels something for him.
