Anyone done couch to 5k (C25K)?

Rather dissatisfied with my fitness level lately. I know it’s not bad, I can happily walk 10+miles if I’m setting my own pace.

But walking with the ramblers group, we did 6 miles in just over 2 hours, and the up hill sections were killer - both for the knees and the lungs.

It would be too easy though to let this slide, take things slower now 40 is looming closer on the horizon. But I don’t want to.

So I’m considering couch to 5k, which aims to get you able to run 5 kilometres (three and a bit miles) over the course of a couple of months.

So has anybody I know on here (or anybody I don’t for that matter, feel free to reply) done the C25K?
Good? Bad? Too difficult? Running solo? Or in a group? Outdoors? Or on a running machine?

Anybody heard of or can recommend any alternatives? Main thing is they need to be low/no cost and can fit around all the other things I have to do, like work.
