Back at the weekend I met up with up with some of the people I do medieval reenactment with, and shared my news. So I now have offers of medieval style baby clothes from about three different people (that is from some of the other women in the group) The amusing thing though was telling the guys in the group why I wouldn't be fighting this event season. Totally surprised I think would be the best description.
I think this is because I am not really a girly type of girl, I don't talk make up, fashion or womens magazine. I talk about what was on Top Gear or QI, different types of real ale and how I'm going to dismantle my car's exhaust system. (My fandom stuff is kept totally seperate from them, because I know what their reaction would be)
Apparently according to a one of the guys in the group I am 'like a guy, only with tits' which was he went on to explain that was what guys wanted in a girlfriend. (I think I'm also one of few women in the group who hasn't ever dated M) That said M can get away with saying things like that, although given that I've seen M kiss as many guys as girls in time that i've known him, I suspect it's more of an M point of view than anything else.
Not really fandom related, but when I was at the RPG society that I go to, one of the people that I'm in a game with was saying that she'd had a request to draw some leather bondage type artwork - she has a page on deviant art, and how she didn't do it because it was kinky. One of the other people in the game said they were glad they couldn't draw, because they wouldn't like to get kinky art requests either. I'm sitting there thinking 'If only you knew about the types of things that I write/read online' Only I didn't tell them, because everybody that I know in RL (as opposed to online) seems to think that I'm nice and really very innocent, especially because I only have had the one boyfriend (who I'm now married to).
I think they would be very surprised indeed if they knew how I really think.
Off to do some more fic writing now, and hopefully get finished the Ianto/Jack kink fic that has been sitting half finished on my laptop for far to long now.
