Summary: Nick wishes the bedtime stories of his childhood could have been true.

As a child the bedtime stories his mother had told him had always reassured Nick that monsters didn't exist outside of the realms of fantasy, a place where the hero always saved the day.
It was a lie, the monsters are real.
Whether it's a dinosaur in all its savage primordial glory, or someone like Oliver Leek, a twisted creature, human in name alone, it makes no difference any more.
There aren't any fairytale endings either: if there were Stephen would still be by his side.
Sleepless, lying alone in his bed, Nick wishes those stories could have been true.
