Here's my practice round fic for writerinadrawer. A couple of other people have put theirs up at [livejournal.com profile] wiad_the_lounge

Prompts were: From the view point of a non-human. Mention 5 of the 7 colours of the rainbow. And less than 800 words. Practice round is doesn't include any series 3 info.

I thought I'd use the opportunity to write in past tense something that I rarely do. I'm not really sure how well it turned out, but knew that it wouldn't work in present tense or at least 3/4 of it wouldn't.

Title: Reflected Memories.
Warnings: None
Pairing/s: Canon pairings mentioned.
Rating: PG
Summary: Adam reflects on how he's changed Torchwood and how Torchwood has changed him.

back in the days before I came to this primitive little green planet and met Jack and flawed, vibrant team, with all their memories of darkness and unspoken lusts )

I've decided which of the three possible plot ideas that I had to write my [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang on. So another long TW fic to write, this one will be Jack/Ianto, set post series 2 + lost souls, but pre series 3.

Writer sign ups for [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang have now finished but were still looking for artists, cheerleader/alpha readers and beta readers. Sign up for all these will be open until the end of October.

I'm working on my practice round entry for [livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer which has the prompts, The Torchwood team from the view point of a non-human character, any 5 of the 7 colours of the rainbow adn 800 words or less.

I've finalised my maternity leave dates at work now. My last working day is the 18th of August, and I'll return to work after Easter next year, which is early mid/april.

Spent the afternoon shopping in Ikea, and have now bought a cot and bedding. As now there's only 10 weeks to go until baby is suppose to arrive, I'm thinking that I should probably get round to actually buying baby things.

:D

My number got picked to be in [livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer  I'm in :D

How long I'll last I don't know, everybody else who's number has come up are really good writers, like copperbadge (aka sam-storyteller) invisible-lift, allfireburns and verasteine.

I've also just realised that if by some miracle I make it though to the final round (which I'm guessing will be round 11 like it was the last two times) it'll be the week baby is due.  eep

For anybody who's on my flist  and would like to take part there's only 2 hours left to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer  round three.

[livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer is looking for people to take part again. But only 20 randomly selected people will get to have a go because otherwise the contest just gets too big.

I've put my name down, but don't know if I'll get in. Had great fun doing it last time though.

Off to a reenactment event for the weekend now, and not liking the look of the rain clouds outside.

Well this is it, my losing entry for writerinadrawer.

Title: Lost and Found.
Rating: PG
Characters: Ianto, Owen.
Prompts: Innovative - something is being used for a purpose other than what it was intended for. A hand gesture, and 600 words or less.

Well I made it much further than I thought I would in Writerinadrawer, but this week I was the person with the most negative vote or rather the person with the second lowest number of votes because the the person with the actaul lowest vote had played their immunity card, I guess that's just the way it goes.

I thought I'd voted out this week anyway, I wasn't happy with my story, it was posted at the last minute with very little editing.

Will only be posting this one to my journal I think.

So here it is, the fic for writeriadrawer that I had the last minute panic and rewrite about.

Title: Memories Old and New.

Characters/Pairing: Ianto/Lisa.

Rating: G

Spoilers: Slight for Something Borrowed and From Out Of The Rain.

Prompts: An unexpected day off. A grooming product. 400 words or less.

I thought I'd get my writerinadrawer fic done early this week, well earlier than last week anyway, and I had. Just one last read through before posting and then I noticed it - a plot problem that means I'm going to have to rewrite a chunk of it - and it only 400 words.

Because, while Timey-whimey stuff can explain a lot, it doesn't change the fact Mickey caught the train and that screws over the one of the major points of my fic.

So seven and a half hours to go, I can come up with something else in that time *is hopeful*

Free Fall

Here's my entry for round seven of writerinadrawer, and some how I've made it through again, albeit this time with a score of -4 (All my scores up until now have been between +2 and -2), but since the average was -3 I'm thinking that isn't so bad, especially considering I wrote this at the last minute.

Title: Free Fall.
Character: Owen.
Rating: PG-13 for language and implied sex.
Prompts: Wasted (Somebody is more than a little intoxicated), an Olympic sport, and 500 words or less.

Only just managed to get by writerinadrawer entry in this week, 20 minutes before the deadline - my internet connection decided that it was time to annoy me again.

My connection is now running both through my wireless card and from where I managed to plug it via the USB, via an ethernet connection straight into the wireless router box and that has just about given my enough connection to get my entry in.

Not that I'm happy with what I've written, I'm not, but then again I never am. I had two ideas for what I was going to write this week, and then travelling to work on the bus this morning a third idea sneaks up and suddenly I have the other two ideas and have to write the third one.

So consquently my entry this week was written in about two and a half hours, I've barely had time to read over it, i'm sure it's awful and even the internet didn't seem to want me to inflict it on people - at least i've managed to persuade the internet that, at least for the next few minutes that it wants to co-opperate with me.

So even if I do go out this round I've had a great time writting (and stressing out over) my entries, and it's been fun especially because I never expected to get this far.

I will now get my rather over due tea :)

Some how I've made it through round six of writerinadrawer, I am so surprised to have made it into the sixteen of us left from the orginal fifty.  That's particularly true for this round as considering I was drawing a absolute blank on what to write until about ten hours before the deadline and so it was written in a rush, and like all my other writer in a drawer entries, is unbeta'd.

Title: The things we do.
Rating: PG
Characters: Ianto, Owen.
Warning/Spoilers: Day in the Death and Fragments, although this set before Fragments.

Prompts: Busted (somebody's found doing something they shouldn't be) an art or craft and 400 words or less.

silver_sun: (multipic)
Why is it the more time that I have to get something sorted out, the more likely it is that I'm still going to leave it to the last minute?

I've only just got round to finishing and posting my entry to writerinadrawer. Okay there's just under two hours to go until the deadline, but still I've have since monday - when I got back from the reenactment event and found out that I was still in and what the round 6 prompt were, to get it done.

As usually I'm not happy with what I've written, and expect to get voted out, but I've thought that every week since it started.

Anyway there will be 22 stories going up on [profile] writerinadrawerin a few hours time, so anyone wants to wander over and have a read and a vote please do, as last week there were actually more stories than people who voted.

So i've voted for this rounds entries over at [profile] writerinadrawer, one winner, one to be drawered, and it wasn't easy they are all so good

I made this mistake of reading my own entry though and am now convinced that I'm going to be the one voted into a drawer this week.

That said I thought exactly the same thing last week and I wasn't, so maybe I won't be, it's only another ten/twelve hours or so until I find out.  I've got a few thoughts on what to write for this weeks challenge if I'm still in.  I won't start writing it though until after tonight and I know if I actually need to.
silver_sun: (invictus)
Just posted my entry over on [profile] writerinadrawerand i'm still not happy with it, but then I have no clue what I could do to it that would do. Diary style fics aren't something that i've written before and not something that I probably would chose to write again unless it's for a fic challenge.

Letter format  fic on the other hand I can handle - why couldn't it have been letter format?  I might have been able to write something I was happy with *wonders if there will be a letter form challenge in a later round*

That said I wasn't that happy with what I posted for the first round and I came out with a net score of 0 on that one, that's 1+ review and 1- review.

Now for the long wait until next wednesday night to see if i'm drawered or not.
