Note. The Doctor and Fitz's relationship is complicated and this isn't exactly ship fic. They are very close, and I can probably best describe it as romantic friendship. They do love and care for each other, but they don't have a sexual relationship. Whether they will or not at any future point isn't the subject if the fic. I can see both possibilities.

Summary:

BBC press release says that filming for Doctor Who with the Eleventh Doctor starts today and will continue into next year.

There are no plot spoilers for any episodes either for tenth or eleventh doctor in the press release.

The Year That Never Was. Everybody forgot that it happened. Except those on board the Valiant.

So the Doctor, Martha, Martha's family, Jack, the Master and Lucy......And all the UNIT soldiers and crew that were on board, which to staff something the size of an aircraft carrier must have been a lot of people.

So what happened to those UNIT soldiers and the crew? They all remember what happened, and had to survive living on the Valiant with the Master for a year, presumably having to do everything that he told them to if they wanted to stay alive.

Those have got to be some pretty awful memories.

So the plot bunny.

What if the soldier Jack talked to in a bar (the one mentioned in Journeys End) was one of the UNIT soldiers that had been on board the Valiant. Why did they choose to meet up? A need to talk to somebody who understands just what happened? Had the soldier been kind to Jack during that year, maybe at a cost to himself, and Jack meets up with him to see how he's managing?

Ok, so I was completely wrong in who I thought would be cast as the 11th Doctor, mainly because the person cast isn't somebody I'd previously heard of.

I'll put who it is under as cut just in case people don't want to be spoiled - Although how anybody is going to get through to 2010 without finding out I'm not sure.

All the speculation about who's going to be the new Doctor will (presumably) stop tomorrow after the special edition of Doctor Who confidential (BBC1 5.35-6.10)when the BBC will, according to their latest press release, tell us who the next Doctor will be.

I've got my own suspicions on who it might be, but it will be interesting to find out just who it actually is.

I said there might fic this weekend and there is. Actually it's something that I wrote a few months back, before the start of the 3rd series of Doctor Who and then lost/forgot about it until this morning when decided to actually try to tidy/organise the fic that i've got on my laptop - I know have folders for ideas, fragments, part finished and mostly finished fic.

So here it is.
