Have just heard some of the casting for one of the shows that I watch, Alexander Siddig (DS9's Dr Bashir) is joining the cast.

I am so looking forward to the new series. Only downside is waiting until next year :(

DS9 was my favourite of the Star Trek series, as although it was Star Trek it had a bit of a different feel to it, and some of the stuff that happened in the Dominion War plot arc was darker/harsher/more morally ambigous than Star Trek usually went.

I think that's why I like Stargate: Universe more than the other two Stargates, because it has that same feel.

I thought that series had been canceled, very nice, I'm only just beginning on series 2 though (well after Who series 5 anyways), so it'll be a while till I get around to that piece of yumminess

It did get cancelled, then a couple of other TV companies, UKTV, Watch and BBC Worldwide, bailed it out, although it's still going to be directed by the same person. So they are going to have a 4 and 5 series.

so SGU is worth watching? It has started over here recently but I've only watched the pilot of it ...

I think so. The pilot is good, episode three is a bit dull, but it picks up from four onwards.

It's not done as well in the ratings as SG1 and SGA, but that seems to be down to the fact that it's not an exact copy of the other two. There's no military vs evil alien race as the main premise, and storylines do continue very much from one episode to the next, and the main characters (Young, Rush etc) are often less than heroic in what they do. But given the situation that they are in it fits very well.

I'm not really FAN of Primeval, at least not in the same way I am with Torchwood, that's the only series I read fanfiction in, but I do like to watch it and has the series 2 DVDs just waiting to be watched, getting more TV is nice though

This really is great news. A.S. was always my favorite on DS9(which was also my favorite of the new Treks). I've seen him in a few things since, but never enough. Up to this point I have not watched Primeval but that appears to be about to change. Thanks for the heads-up. :D
