As some of you know I'm setting up a comm, [livejournal.com profile] tw_classic for all things series one, two and pre series of Torchwood. More info here: http://the-silver-sun.livejournal.com/121333.html

The question is when, for the purposes of this comm, should be the cut off point for for what is classic Torchwood.

[Poll #1604398]

New material, books, audio books, and radio plays, if they are set before the decided cut off point, will be included.

I'll keep this poll open until Saturday when the comm goes live.

I'm off to work now so I' not going to be able to reply to people before this evening.

I voted Deadline because I loved that, but I also quite enjoyed Journey's End and I've no idea which was supposed to come first in the official timeline.

I hope the new comm will be a huge success.

voted for up to the Deadline - it allows the whole "not a blip in time" sentiment to be used but doesn't touch on the travesty that was COE as that didn't portray any of the characters realsitically - although I would be in favour of allowing the canon characters of Alice and Steven, as well as Ianto's family to be used as those were valid scenarios and had been mentioned elsewhere, such as the Torchwood Archives book (Rhi and Alice were in there I think) ...
in my opinion, classic stories could involve these people, but should not go anywhere near fixits for what should never have been broken, if that makes sense :-)

good luck with the comm :-)

voted for Deadline, too. Wasn't really hard to choose. I totally have to go with angstosaur's thoughts about the whys *nod*

Good luck with the comm <3

From what it looks like you want with this comm, I'd say The Deadline as that was the last (so far) we got with the original Torchwood feel to it, and I agree with Anstosaur about characters :)
Good luck with the comm

I'm not sure whether Deadline is before or after Journey's End... because i very much like the idea of Gun-Wielding!Ianto and take-charge!Gwen hiding from Jack the fact the Dalek's are coming to the Hub and then HANDLING IT! (and the Jack reaction when he comes back to find them taking apart said dead Dalek has SO MANY possibilities! ::grin::)

Though i'm also one who misses Owen and Tosh - so would fix-its/AU's from those points fall under the "Classic" banner?

i like the idea of allowing for Alice, Stephen, and Ianto's sis and family without dealing with CoE!

If Journey's End is included, then you could also include Sarah Jane and Luke knowing Jack-Torchwood, you have a good place to start the "My (brother/uncle/father-grandfather) does WHAT!?!" (because how the HECK could the world NOT notice the multitude of planets in the sky and the RUSH when things were put back?) which could bring in the family mentioned in CoE, AND you could work on fix-its for what the Doc did to Donna ::grumble::

okay, just my thoughts (and i've already added the community ::blush:: )

Good luck,
the kendermouse
