Okay I've already written a couple of CoE fix-its. Now I have an idea for another one - Yes I know, I've got like a million and one other things to write.

Okay so the idea is this.

It's basically a 'turn left' kind of deal.

In day one the couple conversion between Jack and Ianto goes slightly differently, it's not that one or other of them don't see themselves as a couple, but that Ianto is concerned that if it's obvious to people that they are a couple when they are supposed to be working that it might place them in additional danger if something tries to exploit it.

The Ianto and Rhiannon conversation goes a little differently - mainly the 'it's only Jack' bit. Ianto means that he's only in a relationship with Jack and that he's not having loads of one night stands with guys in fancy restaurants. Johnny still does his 'gay boy' bit, but Mica tells him that her teachers have said people shouldn't say things like that.

Jack and Alice conversation goes more into why Jack and Lucia's relationship stopped working.

When Johnson plants the bomb in Jack she knocks out Rupesh rather than kills him, saying something about if the plan goes wrong then she'll leave him to take the blame.

Clem I think needs to be changed a bit, the whole smelling thing made to make sense - or at least Who 'verse sense (which the CoE Clem's magic nose really didn't)

Gwen finds out about the baby and the Hub explodes the same.

On to day two.

Gwen and Ianto get out of the rubble of the Hub, and make a run for it. Gwen's escape happens the same as the episode, but Ianto gets shot in the leg, (thinking calf, rather than thigh due to bleeding). He manages to get away by falling into the bay.

Across the city in his flat Rupesh gets a very strange visitor - the tarot card girl. He wakes up to find her sat on the floor by his sofa where he's fallen asleep. She's dealing out tarot cards. She lays cards out for Jack, Gwen and Ianto, and then one for him. And then gets him to follow her to where Ianto has hidden after getting out of the bay.

Rupesh knows a little about Torchwood, but only what Johnson told him when she was trying to get him to infiltrate them.

Ianto is cold, weak and in pain, but knows that if they try to get him to a hospital he's likely to get shot at again. Rupesh patches him up the best he can. Ianto says he's got to get in contact with Gwen, and find out what's happened to Jack.

Rupesh finds out that Johnson has basically framed him for the Hub bomb and he's now wanted by the police, so her's got to hide too.

Ianto contacts his sister to bring him a laptop, but rather than meeting in a park, it's at an old shop - what used to be their father's tailors shop - it's been a few other things since, but is now empty again. Which is where they are hiding.

A bit of back story for Ianto and Rhiannon that doesn't contradict everything that we got in the last 2 series.

Ianto contacts Gwen, he gets the number plate of the vehicle used to take away Jack by hacking into the CCTV network. Ianto starting to get a bit feverish as he talks to Gwen, she realises he's hurt. She tells him she'll find Jack and that it'll be okay.

Gwen realising that she needs more back up than Rhys, and that Ianto isn't going to be able to help, contacts Andy. You've always wanted to know what Torchwood does, now here's your chance.
Andy agrees.

The rescue of Jack from the concrete is now Gwen, Rhys and Andy.

Most of the London stuff happens the same - as honestly most of it really didn't make any use of Ianto being there anyway.

With the stealing bits of tech/money/laptop scene, Jack will comment about having once been a con man.

Andy has the 'does it hurt to be exploded?' conversation. Although not the beans bit.

The handing the children over in the 1960's gets explained. Jack thought that there would be back up, that it would get to the point where the children were handed over and then they would double cross the aliens and take them out. He'd not been happy about using the children as bait, but it was better than the alternative. It doesn't play out like that and Jack felt massively betrayed by Torchwood. The whole handing children over to aliens paralells with losing Gray to aliens hitting him hard. It was Lucia who he'd met soon after this and had helped him keep it together.

For day 4 it's Clem that goes into Thames House with Jack. Clem saying it's time he faced the things that have haunted him since childhood. Jack and Clem die. Jack feeling pretty wretched as he feels like he's failed Clem again.

There really should be some explanation on why the poison gas/disease/virus/alien fart didn't kill Dekker, being as he was stood in the same room, breathing the same air.

Rupesh takes the tarot girl to London, as she says that's where she needs to go.

So it's the Tarot card girl who take the place of Steven at the end. She tells Jack that she knows that this will kill her, but that it's alright, she'd live a very long time, and that nothing is supposed to be forever - that it's wrong that anything should. Jack watches the only other person on the planet who's anywhere near as old as him die, knowing that he's never going to be able to.

Alice sees Tarot girl die, and asks Jack what he would have done if the girl hadn't been there, who would he have used. Jack doesn't answer. Alice tells him that's all she needs to know. Then she says that she'd been offered a job that would require her relocating (not decided if another country or just the other end of the UK), she's going to take it, it'll mean a better life for Steven. Jack can send birthday cards/present if he wants to, but not to visit - it's better for all of them like that, and if Jack really cares about either of them he'll do it.

Jack agrees, and is left alone.

Jack then gets contacted by Gwen or Ianto or possibly Rupesh, and things kick into damage limitation/fool the public the best we can mode.

There's no six months later bit with Jack leaving the planet, although maybe there should be a six months later bit with the opening of a new Hub, with the new team. Jack, Gwen, Ianto, Lois and Rupesh, with Andy as official police liaison.

There are obviously a lot of other details to be ironed out, like what Ianto is doing after day two. I'm thinking coordinating some things from Cardiff/wherever Rhiannon and Johnny house is.

For the end of day four, and after Jack and Clem have gone to Thames House something should happen that makes Gwen think that Ianto has been killed. Currently thinking that somebody blows up Rhiannon and Johnny's house with a fake gas explosion - but they've managed to get out in time.

So when Gwen goes to do the Jack waking up in the room full of bodies scene in day 5 she has to give him the news that she thinks that Ianto is dead.

By biggest problem with this is that it's going to need me to look at CoE in more detail than I ever really want to. I'll have to do it from the transcripts, because there is no way I'm watching it again. At least with the transcripts I can just scroll past the now non-relevant bits. Although I really hate the idea of having to read the Steven death bits.

So will I write it, probably. It feels like one of those bunnies that just isn't going to go away.
