Torchwood Time Line.
Jul. 4th, 2011 10:30 pmI know there have been a few timelines done for when Torchwood episode were set, some which include things like Ianto's suspension post cyberwoman (which is from the BBCA captain's blog), I've seen a couple which say Gwen started work at Torchwood only three weeks after Ianto.
This is the one that I generally have in my head when writing fic (rightly or wrongly depending on whether you prefer the other timelines - and given the timey whimey nature of the Who 'Verse who can say which is right.)
Toshiko joins Torchwood - Sept 2003
Owen joins Torchwood - early 2005
Toshiko takes Owen's place to investigate the space pig, DW Aliens of London - 6th March 2005
Fall of Torchwood One - September 06
Ianto joins Torchwood - December 06 (06 date (but not the Dec part) is from the original BBC Torchwood webpage, Ianto's messages to Dr Tanazaki.)
Gwen joins Torchwood. Everything Changes and Day One - July 07
Ghost Machine and Cyberwoman - August 07
Small World and Countrycide - September 07
Greeks Bearing Gifts _ October 07
They Keep Killing Suzie and Random Shoes - November 07
Out of Time - 21 to 24th December 07
Combat - Jan 08
Captain Jack Harkness and End of Days - Early Feb 08
Jack missing/events of year that never was Feb to May 08
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Early May 08
Sleeper - Late May 08
To The Last Man - 20th June 08 (From calendar in Jack's office which said Friday 20th June which meant it had to be 08)
Meat - Early July 08
Adam - Mid July 08
Reset/Dead Man Walking/Day in the Death - Late July 08
Something Borrowed - Early August 08
From Out of the Rain and Adrift - Late August 08
Fragments and Exit Wounds September 08
The date for Gwen starting is worked out from To The Last Man, that is definitely the 20th June 08, and she wasn't there for the previous years waking up of Tommy Brockless.
Toshiko's start date is taken as being 5 years before exit wounds. And Owen's is based on Aliens of London. There are however some things that suggest that Aliens of London was in 2006
(Rose's missing poster) however that would push everything else forward by one year and mean that Jack's calendar was out of date by one year.
Despite all the fic potential, I must be one of the few writer in the Torchwood fandom that doesn't use Ianto's suspension as part of my timeline. It think it's because it didn't appear as information until months after I'd watched series one, and it was only on the BBC America site, and by that time I'd got fixed in my own head canon.
