Highmoor- original fic. (All written - editing to post)

Cover art by me. Rowan Matthews was the writing name I was using on Wattpad - this is not my IRL name.

Written back in 2017 for nanowrimo, I had posted the first few parts to Wattpad, but I don’t really use that site.

So I’m going to finish all the edits (first 13k of 70k done) and post it to the original fic tag section of AO3, as that is where all my other fic is. It also makes it possible that if, when it’s done, someone want to get a pdf/EPUB of it they can.

So here is part 1. Planning on one part per week until done. It will be between 20 & 25 parts - depending on how long I make each part. I’m going to aim for about 3k a part (I couldn’t get on with Wattpad readers idea that a long chapter was like 800 words)

Summary:

Leaving his old life and a disastrous relationship behind him, Matt Heywood takes a job as a caretaker at Highmoor Grange, a manor house museum on the edge of an isolated moorland village in West Yorkshire. Nothing however is as it seems. From the wild vastness of Bleaksyke Moor to the cold waters of Long Moss Tarn a strange breathless quiet seems to hang over the Grange and the village.

When Matt begins a relationship with a local man the quiet is broken. Something that has slept for more than a century wakes once more and history begins to repeat itself.
