Doctor Who/Torchwood plot bunny.

silver_sunPlot idea relating to 12th Doctor casting and to Children of Earth. If anybody wants this idea feel free to take it as I'm probably not going to write this myself as I've currently got fics already totally about 200k words in the pipeline so to speak, including 2 big bangs (and will be three come September) That said this probably wouldn't be writable until a few episodes with the 12th Doctor have aired anyway as we have no idea what he'll be like. So maybe next year or if anybody else wants to write it...
The Doctor now going to be played by the same actor as who played the Primeminister John Frobisher in Children of Earth.
Basically Frobisher is a Chameleon arced Doctor (like John Smith was in Family of Blood, only without a companion to keep an eye on him). He doesn't realise he's anything other than human and either does anybody else.
The Doctor was Chameleon arced by someone who wanted him out of the way, but didn't want to kill him (I'm thinking the Master – because what would be more twisted fun than watching the Doctor go bad?)
Children of Earth happens as seen. Only when Frobisher goes to shoot himself he doesn't does die – either he regenerates and remembers he's the Doctor or the bullet doesn't kill him but disrupts the chameleon arc so he remembers.
Now a version of the Doctor has the memories of the terrible things he's done. He agreed to Jack being killed and Torchwood destroyed, ordered children to be handed over to the aliens and killed his own family.
So what does he do now? He has to go and try to fix the timeline, because what happened really, really wasn't supposed to. This wasn't supposed to be part of Earth's future/past. Because Torchwood wasn't supposed to be destroyed in 2009 because they were very definitely there in 2012 when people started vanishing at the Olympics, even the sports presenter had heard of them. (As happened in the Doctor Who episode Fear Her)
He should have helped behind the scenes, but the credit should have gone to Torchwood. They would have become known in the way MI5 or MI6 are known – ie everybody had heard of them, but nobody really knows exactly what they are involved in.
Now he's got to put it right. Only he's going to need Jack to do it. Jack who is going to take one look at him and see the man whose actions destroyed every shred of happiness he found for himself on Earth.

I don't know if or when I'd write it (I'm still pounding away on a post-MD fic), but I'd love to sink my teeth into it and see what comes out. I'll certainly credit you for the story idea if it ever sees the light of day.

Date: 2013-08-05 05:22 pm (UTC)(Which stands as an alternative series 4 following on from my Secrets and Hope fic, a 'turn left' style rewrite of CoE, a longliveianto big bang, a rare pair big bang (probably Spooks code9), the rest of the Torchwood/Being Human crossover fic I've started posting, and the sequel to the 9th Doctor and companion Ianto AU started in A Different Path. I still need to write the third and final fic in the series that started with the Spaces in Between. And something for Classic Torchwood big bang later this year. Honestly 200k may actually be an underestimation of how many words I'll need to get all this written. haven't quite decided whether that is a yeah! or an argg yet.)
