Back from the event

silver_sunGot back from my first reenactment event of the season, the Barley Hall in York, late on sunday night.
It was good fun, a bit different from the usual as it was an entirely non-combat event, not even bill drill.
Although walking back to the car park on the Saturday night we almost did get a bit of combat.
We were walking back down Micklegate bar about eight of us, most of us still in full kit, when some chav oik grabs one of the women in the group's head rail (medieval headscarf thing), and runs off with it.
She shouts at him to give it back, I look round, see that nobody has started going after him yet, so I start running after him, who says you can't run in ankle length dress.
Think he was rather surprised when I caught up with him, as he eventually stopped and held out the head rail to me.
Me not being in a good mood, pretty much snatch it back off him, with a fairly grumpy thank you, and walk back to K, who the head rail belonged to and give it back to her.
I think the rest of the people I was with were rather surprised that I had just chased off after this guy and got back K's hat. I guess I rather surprised myself to be honest, not sure what I whould have done if he hadn't have wanted to hand it back, probably tried grab it back off him.
Did loads of medival style cooking, and I don't think I got to sit down apart from when we had meals, but it good that the event seasons started again.
Next event is at Warwick castle for a massive four days over Easter, it was really good last year, absolutely knackering putting on three fights a day for the public, but still great fun, especaially watching the trebuchet being fired.
On the car front the new replacement door should be arriving on Wednesday, so by the weekend I should be in poscession of a fulling working car again. Appologies for the swearing in my last post, as I was still rather annoyed about the fact that my had been broken in to.
