Oh, how I do love this story. It is so understandable, that people like Jack want to be independent, want to deal with everything alone, don't want others to see how they really feel. Then the impact is much bigger when they finally admit they cannot deal with this one alone, they need help, and when they give in and let others take care of them. It can't be easy to give over control, but such a nice scene it was, Ianto caring for him and just knowing what to do, and Jack being able to trust him and just follow his lead. Wonderful.
And the suspense of not knowing what happened is working great, too.
