Deborah hates the tired, distant look in James' eyes on the increasingly rare days he comes home from work.
Not that he'll explain; James never talks to her about anything other than the children any more.
She wonders if he realises how biting his sarcasm has become, or if he's aware they've not made love in weeks.
She almost wishes he were having an affair; better that than the quiet loneliness that she's powerless to relieve, and which breaks her heart to see.
Tonight she'll push for answers, regardless of the consequences, unable to remain trapped in a loveless marriage.
