Summary: Sometimes things have to be said.

“We have to talk,” Deborah says, standing in front of the door, preventing Lester from leaving. “We can't go on like this.”
“I know.” Lester's shoulders sag, dreading what must come next.
“Then tell me what's wrong?”
He's run this conversation over in his head a thousand times, trying to find the right words, yet always it comes down to this. “I think I'm gay.”
Shocked, she asks,“Did you ever love me?”
There's something fragile in her voice that hurts to hear, and Lester replies quickly, “Of course I did. You're my best friend.”
Hiding tears, Deborah turns away.
