Ashes to Ashes final episode
May. 21st, 2010 10:27 pmI'm not sure yet what I think of the end of Ashes to Ashes. Keats' weird growling was rather too odd for my taste, I prefered it when he was bat shit without it being so obvious about it. At least they didn't massively play up religous overtones, although Keats' lifts and the whole going down business was a bit too much.
And Gene. I really don't know what to say. Although if he'd have gone into the Railway Arms that would have been the end of it for him at least he would have got to be Sam, Annie, Ray, Chris, Shaz and Alex.
As it is he continues on alone. Or rather with new lost souls. Not that we'll see them, the show runners have said that this is the last ever series, because now we know what the world is.
I just wonder when he lives in his world on into the 21st century and Alex's own time and the time of the discovery of his body whether then he'll finally move on, being as by that point he'd be past the normal police retirement age. Or maybe he'll just go back to the start again. Who knows.
At least we know he didn't kill Sam, not like that, being as his last words were for him to get a pint, I think he said (I'll have to rewatch that bit) for Sam to get a pint in for him - it sounds like Gene's got the intention of joining him and everybody else in the Railway Arms at some point.
