Seriously again?

I said in an early post that I'm not going to watch Torchwood: Miracle Day, and that hasn't changed. I've not been following what's going on, but

I'm writing a fic, Things Lost and Found Along the Way, in which Jack is trying to work out whether his healing ability/immortality  has gone wrong, and apparently this is one of the big things in Miracle Day.

I've had the idea for months, this was the fic with the awful working title of Suspect Fungus. I guess I'll have to change some the blurb on the header to say something like any similarities to Miracle Day are coincidental.

A similar thing happened while I was writing A Year Out of Time, I decide they are going to have a time lock on the Hub - and what happens in Doctor Who Stolen Earth - yes, they time lock the Hub - admittedly not in the same circumstances.

don't worry too much - chances are your fic will show signs of research where necessary and your characters will stay true to themselves ... maybe a disclaimer along the lines that any similarity between your fic and MD are very much accidental and not in the least bit planned ....

I think I'll add the disclaimer to the fic when I post the next part on Friday.

I suppose it's one of those things about fandom, there are loads of Ianto becoming immortal fics, but there doesn't seem to be many Jack becomes mortal ones. So if when you write one it's kind of noticeable.

The silly thing is it's taken me so long to get round to writing it that it's only being posted now. The plans for Things Lost and Found has been kicking around since October last year, as has the idea for a sequel to it, which will probably be called Out of the Dark.

Hey, that's interesting. You must start writing a fic where Ianto comes back from the dead, and then that'll happen in canon too! :)

I've not written one with Ianto coming back from the dead, but I have written one, Secrets and Hope, where his death in Thames House was faked by elements in the government.

I have to agree with angstosaur, your fic will most probably be superior to Miracle Whip in every way that counts, so I would get in now and distance yourself from it :)
