Playing catch up again - here are days 16 to 23.
16 – Summaries – Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?
Sometimes the summary seems to write itself, when it doesn’t I’m probably never going to be entirely happy with what I come up with. But even a not very good summary has got to be better than no summary at all in letting people know what the fic is about.
17 – Titles – Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic?
Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not? Usually the hardest part of the fic to think of. And chapters never get titles as I can never think of any.
18 – Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?
Most of the time I’m not actually sure, the bunnies just hop in out of nowhere. Other than that quite a few of my fics are from prompts at various comms/challenges that I’ve taken part in – writer in a drawer, kink-las, rounds of kink, kink-bingo (seeing a theme here ) and tw100 and primeval100.
19 – When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start writing right away, or do you write down the idea for further use?
Usually I just write down a quick overview of the bunny, and it gets put in a folder on the laptop, and that’s where a lot of them still are. I’ve lost count of how many are currently there, but probably somewhere in the region of 40+.
20 –Do you ever get bunnied from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?
I don’t think I have been. There’s not actually much that I’ve reading these days, not because I don’t want to, but because it’s down to time – I can either read or write but not both, and at the moment writing is winning.
21 – Sequels – Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?
Until recently I didn’t have any sequels – although I did have ideas for quite a few. I’m now currently writing and posting a sequel to The Spaces in Between, called Things Lost and Found Along the Way. This will also be getting a sequel, probably called Out of the Darkness, although probably not until next year. I’ve also got a virtual series following on from Secrets and Hope so I guess that sort of counts as lots of sequels.
22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favourite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?
Yes and yes. I took part in under-mistletoe a few years back, and have written big bang fic for tardis-bigbang and tw-bigbang. I’ve also done artwork sci-fi-bigbang and for tw-bigbang. I’m also in the early stages of organising a classic torchwood bigbang that I will also take part in. I think the best bit has to be the waiting to find out what art will be done for your fic.
23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?
I post to my journal and link back to it from a few comms, usually a max of three. I also post to ff.net. I have a dreamwidth account, but use that mainly as a mirror site to back up everything I have on LJ.
