There’s something building, a static buzz in the air, that everybody seems to feel. Combined with the summer heat it makes people irritable, snapping and yelling at each other for things that would once have just got a pointed look.
Standing on the roof of the Millennium Centre, Jack looks out across Cardiff.
“Enjoying the quiet before the storm?” Ianto asks, walking over to him.
Below a car alarm sounds, and Jack laughs. “Hardly quiet.”
“The weevils are getting restless,” Gwen says, joining them.
“A storm’s coming.” Jack takes their hands in his. Whatever it is they’ll weather it together.
