Can't believe what's going on in London and Birmingham right now

The BBC are reporting a third night of rioting in London, and it has now spread to Birmingham with transport being shut down and shops on fire. Apparently the PM is flying back from holiday to attend a COBRA meeting tomorrow to decide the best course of action. It really doesn't feel real watching it.

There doesn't seem to have been any trouble here in Bradford, and hopefully it will stay like that. I know about this time last year when there was the EDL protest people were scared it would kick off, but people refused to be drawn into it, and it went off with minimal trouble. Hoping that people continue to have that attitude now.

Glad that the majority of my family and inlaws tend to live out in small villages or small towns where it's very unlikely to have any trouble.

just been out to the M&S Simply/BP garage and there were notices up on all the pumps and at the checkouts saying "Due to the recent civil unrest police have requested we do not sell fuel in fuel cans or other containers"- the nearest 'civil unrest' to us is in Bristol ... so I imagine this advice is beign given across the country

I suppose they are just trying to be careful, but it kind of makes me wonder how bad do they think it's going to get.

The bbc are reporting that a lot more police have been brought in to London to deal with any trouble there might be later, 16000 apparently. I just hope that with them bringing in police from elsewhere that those places aren't left short if they have trouble of their own.
